THE CRUISE ARRIVAL TO PALMA: WHAT TO SEE IN ONE DAY
If we’ve received thousands of people from cruises during the summer, the beginning of autumn is foreseen busy as well. Everyday arrive to Palma a high number of visitors that disembark, visit the city and leave it. That means shops, bars, restaurants and different tourist companies are waiting hopefully.
THE CHALLENGE: VISIT PALMA IN ONE DAY.
We want to offer an option for planning the visit of the city, in which (in one day) you can see and visit the most important buildings and places in Palma, doing a nice stroll through the old town, eating in some good and nice restaurant, going inside some main buildings and finishing the day doing some shops….a busy day, very useful though.
VISIT PALMA DE MALLORCA THROUGH OUR EYES
We suggest to the visitor going to Parc de la Mar surrounding the sea promenade. It’s, according our opinion, a fantastic first contact with the city, receiving the sea breeze and enjoying the views.
At 11:00 you can join to our Free tour, doing a walking tour through the old town of Palma, visiting the main buildings and discovering the history and legends of Palma thanks to our official guides. The free walking tour ends at Plaza España at 13:00. The visitor can do a walk or stroll over there while your’re looking for a place to eat and recharge your energies!
After eating, the tourist can go to Born promenade and Jaume II Avenue area, where he will see and visit the most exclusive shops of Palma. Not so far from there, is located La Lonja, an extraordinary building, one of the most important civil gothic buildings of Mallorca. Then can be interesting walking up to Museu des Baluard, the Modern and Contemporary Art of Palma. Building and museum are interesting; it’s worth coming in and contemplate how a modern building has been adapted to an 17th bastion.
However, an alternative option after long is visit the Castell de Bellver. It’s located on a hillside and it’s one of the most extraordinary gothic castles in Europe due to is one of the four round shape gothic castle in Europe. It’s quite interesting visit it because the architecture, the history museum and above all the views, those are completely amazing!
Depending on the departure time, it can be a perfect plan dinner in a restaurant on the seaside promenade or in Santa Catalinas neighbourhood, the trending area in Palma nowadays, near the Mercat de Santa Catalina is full of cosy and charming restaurants and bars.
And finally, it can be a great idea walking back to the harbour, doing again the same way but with a different ambience, the night life and the enlighten bay and buildings (the Cathedral, the Bellver castle, es Baluard museum and others) emerging as light giants bidding farewell to the visitors and inviting to come again to Palma de Mallorca.
