Free things to do in Palma de Mallorca – Free tickets!
Palma Old Town:
The first one is the most important building of the city of Palma: the Cathedral of Mallorca, known as La Seu. It was built between the 13th and 17th century and it is one of the most spectacular Gothic cathedrals of eastern Spain and the only cathedral in the world called “Cathedral by the Sea”. The entrance is always free during the services (check here the timetable) and free for all residents in Mallorca. But we also recommend you to try Palma free walking tour with local guides so you’ll get through the real history of this wonderful building.
Near the cathedral, there is the Lonja (the old fisher market). It is a civil gothic building of the 15th-century built by Guillem Sagrera. It was headquartered in the Merchant guild. Come in and admire its inner architecture and above all its columns: it seems you are in a palm tree forest (check here the opening times).
Moreover, in Palma, we can visit for free three manor houses. The Fundacio Joan March, is located in the shopping street of Sant Miquel. Here you can admire contemporary works of art by famous painters and sculptors such as Miró, Dalí, Gris, Chillida, Tàpies and Miquel Barceló among others (check here the opening time).
Another one is Can Balaguer This Mallorcan manor house dates from the 18th century. In 1951 became the property of the City Hall of Palma and between 2009 -2016 the house was refurbished.
